What is the name of your Bunco For Breast Cancer event?
Bunco for Breast Cancer.
How long have you been holding your event?
Since 2007, but we didn't hold an event in 2009. Our 2010 event was held October 16th.
How has your event grown over the years?
We have tried to increase the proceeds each year.
Do you set fundraising goals for each successive event?
Yes, we will plan to do this with subsequent events.
How much have you raised to date? Close to $13,000.
What motivates you to organize Bunco For Breast Cancer events?
To raise awareness, encourage routine care, just keep talking about it.
Do you have a personal connection to the cause?
Yes, I lost my 49-year-old sister, Sharon, on May 11, 2007 to breast cancer, and another sister was diagnosed in April 2010.
Do you have any words of wisdom for first-time event organizers?
Pick the brains of other organizers - decide what works for you best. And don't be afraid to ask for donations - if you don't ask, you don't get!
To what extent does The Breast Cancer Research Foundation figure in your decision to hold a Bunco For Breast Cancer event?
After visiting the BCRF website and speaking to other organizers, I knew I wanted to help the Foundation.
